Why is someone oped

Avade IRC Network has a set of advanced services that will let founders give access on their channels to other users. Having access on a channel means you will either get a voice(+) or an op(@) automatically when you enter the channel or when you use the /chanserv OP #chan Nick command.

If you one day encounter a nickname oped you do not recognize you might want to check who it is or through whom that user has gained access to your channel.

Below is a command that will tell you exactly which access the nick has to your channel:

/chanserv WHY #chan nick

You then get a reply from chanserv showing which access that nick has to the channel and through which nickname he gained his op(@). It will also show if the user gained access to the channel through identifying with the channel password giving him full access to the channel.

if you found a nick that has founder access to your channel who arent you and therefor shouldnt be having founder access to the channel, then please try change your channel password and contact an online IRC Operator in #OperHelp
Do not share your passwords with anyone!
